Theatre B.C. Contest finalist

My play LAST FALL, which premiered as a SATCO production at the Phoenix Theatre in Victoria last winter has been selected as a finalist by Theatre B.C. for their one-act play of the year for 2013!

I’m very excited about the play’s success. I am also tremendously flattered that the jury found merit in my little drama.

It was a hard play to write, due to the subject matter and the universality of the impact of cancer on all of our lives. I’ve since lost my cousin Howard and my friend Ray to cancers. Both of them were in their 50s.

I wish to dedicate this and any further successes of LAST FALL to Howard and Ray, who each demonstrated considerable character in the face of accelerated mortality.

LAST FALL production announcement

For those of you who call Victoria home:

LAST FALL opens for an exclusive three night run this Wednesday (Oct 16 thru 18, 2013) at the Phoenix Theatre on Ring Road. As the writer, I’m quivering with anticipation at seeing my characters come to life. The director, dramaturge, set design team, and stage manager have outdone themselves. The actors are simply amazing. If the rehearsals I’ve seen are any indication of the final product, the performances will be stellar.  Congratulations all. Be brave! Be bold! And break a leg (each)!

NEWS! My latest play has been chosen for production!

LAST FALL, a thirty minute one-act play that chronicles a love affair that starts in a cancer clinic, has been chosen by Satc0 for it’s 2013 fall schedule at the Phoenix Theatre in Victoria! Of course, I’m very excited to see my play produced. Stay tuned for information on scheduled performances!

I wrote this play in the winter of 2013 with the generous assistance of Joan McLeod, one of Canada’s most celebrated and accomplished dramatists. My heartfelt thanks to Joan.
